Hatoon al-Fassi

Hatoon al-Fassi is a Saudi historian from Makkah and an Associate Professor of Arabian and women's History. She is an Honorary Fellow of Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies at The University of Manchester and has worked and taught at King Saud University and Qatar University for 30 years. In 2012, she was a decorated Knight in the order of National Merit by the French President and was granted MESA's Academic Freedom Award in 2018. Her latest book is Nabataean Women of Ancient Arabia (in Arabic) in 2021. She has written numerous academic articles and has been a columnist writing in Arabic newspapers for 27 years. Her interest, research, and action cover Women's history: ancient and Islamic, Saudi, Gulf, and the History of the Arabian Peninsula.
